The much-anticipated 2026 Strategic Summit on Peace, Security and the Electoral Integrity, organized by the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), was successfully held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The epoch-making, world-class summit attracted an impressive gathering of distinguished personalities from across Nigeria, including captains of industry, top politicians, entrepreneurs, religious leaders, traditional rulers, media owners, veteran journalists, and other key stakeholders.
The theme of this year’s summit was “Protecting Democracy in the AI Era.”
Discussions at the summit focused on promoting national peace, strengthening democratic stability, encouraging responsible media practice, and exploring Nigeria’s evolving creative economy in the age of artificial intelligence. Speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration in safeguarding democracy and fostering sustainable national development.
RATTAWU is the trade union representing professionals in Nigeria’s broadcasting, theatre, entertainment, arts, and cultural sectors.The union remains committed to promoting the welfare, rights, and professional interests of its members.
In his address, the President of RATTAWU, Prince Emeka Kalu, alongside members of the union’s leadership, unveiled strategic plans for the union’s forthcoming 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Celebration.
One of the highlights of the summit was the presentation of prestigious humanitarian awards to deserving Nigerians in recognition of their outstanding contributions to humanity, social development, and national progress.
The atmosphere became electrifying as the Founder of Emmatoks Agencies Group and President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), High Chief Tochukwu Emmanuel Ezisi, RFF (Aku Yie Nwata Egwu), and his wife, fondly known as the First Lady, were presented with the prestigious Golden Era Award, regarded as the flagship honour of the 2026 RATTAWU Humanitarian Awards.
In addition to the award, High Chief Ezisi was officially installed as a Patron of RATTAWU, in recognition of his exemplary leadership, philanthropy, and unwavering support for national development.
Among the dignitaries present at the historic summit were Dr. Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Member of the Board of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management; Prince Emeka Kalu, President of RATTAWU; Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, Founder of NAGAFF; the incoming Chairman of NAGAFF, Comrade Fatai Ayomide Sulaimon; HRM Sooko Oladotun Hassan, Esq., Sooko Agboriesin of Ile-Ife and President of the Yoruba Council Worldwide (Igbimo Apapo Yoruba L’Agbaye); The representative of Inspector-General of Police, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), as well as several other distinguished guests from across the country.
