Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji Charges Nigerian Youths To Get Involved To Enthrone Good Governance
The Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local government Area of Lagos, Aarebinrin, Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji has charged the Nigerian youths to wake up and get involved in helping to build a better Nigeria.
She made the call while speaking at the 3rd anniversary of the Online Reporters Association of Nigeria, ORAN which took place at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos on Thursday, 26th of January 2023.
She called on the Nigerian youths to ignore the statement that says that they’re the ‘Leaders Of Tomorrow’, she insisted that now is the best time to get involved and help make the desired change.
“Youths should not just be leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today in order to have the society we desire and the Nigeria we all clamor for”.
She also encouraged the youths to shun instant gratifications and learn to add great values to the society.
“Make every day, a day to learn and unlearn, and as a journalist society expects more from us than doing the normal day-to-day activities, it is time to go beyond the surface and dig deep.
Also speaking at the event is the Governorship candidate of National Rescue Movement NRM, in Lagos State, Hon. Akinwunmi Braithwaite who called on Nigerians to wake up and take back their country as the 2023 general elections draws near.
Speaking on the importance of Good governance, he said Nigerians should vote with the genuineness of hearts to enjoy the real benefit.
According to him, Nigerians should rather vote with their common sense than with their conscience since their conscience can cause them to vote the wrong people into offices out of emotional weakness.
“A government has the major responsibility to deliver good governance to its people, but in a situation where there is nothing like this, the people need to wise up and vote wisely been the only power they have.” He said
He added that the media, especially the online reporters needs to help society with accurate information, charging ORAN members to engage more in investigative journalism as it is the major need of our society in a time like this.
