Burna Boy mother , Mrs Bose Ogulu has revealed her experiences with Fela Anikulapo Kuti and how her father was efficient while managing the late Abami eda when he was alive .
“My father was Fela Kuti’s manager and I was always with him and Fela all the time. I learned alot from him and Fela and I think that is what has helped in what I and Burna Boy are doing today.” Burna Boy’s Mother/Manager, Bose Ogulu divulged.
“I spent a very short time growing up around Fela Kuti and his crew. I was a baby, but I was old enough to realize that the manager was more responsible than the artist. And the responsibility and the owners of keeping the band members paid and all of that was the responsibility of the manager and not the artist. I discovered that Fela’s band members never went to Fela for anything, they came to my father who was Fela’s manager. I think that is the only thing that I think has remained helpful to me in what I and Burna Boy are doing today. As an artist, you need to have a responsible management that you respect for you to do well because I saw that first hand as a little child. It’s made it very clear to me and it’s not just with the artist I manage but when I see an artist, I understand immediately what their strengths and weaknessęs are. An artist just needs a capable management that can buffer that and make them more successful.” Bose Ogulu
No matter how talented and hardworking you are an artist, you’ll never unlock your true potential if you don’t have a good management.
