Assistant Inspector General of Police , Adegoke Fayoade ( MNI) has been unveiled at the helms of affairs in Zone 2 Onikan Headquarters, Lagos.
The former Lagos State Commissioner of Police was unveiled yesterday, 17th September 2024 at Zone 2, Onikan , Lagos State.
He promised Lagos and Ogun states citizens of good security respectively.
More so, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 2, Martin Nwagbo ( DFA) sent a congratulatory message and welcomed newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police , Adegoke Fayoade ( MNI) back to Zone 2 Onikan Headquarters, Lagos.
Though , Monday 16th September 2024 should have been the day he resumed duty , but due to holiday of Eid Moulid, AIG Fayoade stood up to the occasion and the official ceremony finally took place on Tuesday 17th September 2024 .
The media unveiling ceremony witnessed lots of media personalities and PCRC were at the unveiling ceremony at Zone 2 .
However , decoration of newly promoted officers will take place today Wednesday 18th September 2024 at Zone 2 Conference Hall .
Confirm News gathered that DCP Martin Nwogoh has been acting AIG at Zone 2 since retired AIG, Olatoye Durosimi bids farewell to active duty in NPF in August 2024.
While briefing media on the promotion of the former Lagos Commissioner of Police Fayoade to AIG Zone 2 at the unveiling Tuesday 16th September 2024 , DCP Martin revealed that he is very excited about his promotion and he is ready to work with the new AIG, Fayoade.
“ We welcome our boss, Assistant Inspector General of Police , AIG Zone 2 , Adegoke Fayoade MNI,” he said. “ Zone 2 has been gathering momentum . The former Lagos CP is a man of honour and integrity. We are ready to work assiduously with him . His track records speak volumes in battling crimes in Lagos . He has eliminated lots of kidnappers and armed robbers in Lagos and its environs. We are very optimistic that he will do better in Lagos and Ogun States respectively. Everyone is rejoicing that AIG, Adegoke Fayoade MNI is with us “.
It will be recalled that former CP Lagos State , Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police by the IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun
on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, as Nigerian police witnessed an elaborate event at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja .
Confirm News gathered that promotional ceremony took place at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall in Abuja.
Inspector-General of Police ,Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu presided over the event, which brought together a distinguished crowd of family members, friends, and senior officials.
The promotion, approved by the Police Service Commission at the IGP’s request, elevated eight Commissioners of Police (CPs) to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), while 15 Deputy Commissioners (DCs) stepped into the rank of CP.

The IGP, however, congratulated the officers, urging them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity as they step into their new roles. He emphasised that their leadership will be crucial as the force continues its mission of ensuring peace and security across Nigeria.
Findings revealed that the former CP Fayoade was born on October 28, 1966, in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, Nigeria
He was enlisted in the Nigeria Police as a cadet officer on May 18th, 1992. He served in the operations, administration, and investigative departments.
He holds a B. A (Edu) Hons in History and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Lagos State University (LASU) and University of Lagos (UNILAG), respectively.
Fayoade was at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, USA from 1998 to 1999. From 1999-2003, he was police ADC to the former governor of Osun, Chief Bisi Akande
He was a Divisional Police Officer at Ajao Police Station, Ilupeju Police Station, and Bar Beach, Victoria Island Divisional Headquarters.
He served as the Area Commander of Sango Area Command, Ogun State, where he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and thereafter moved to Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos as DC Admin.
After he got promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police, he was moved to become CP Amarment, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and later to Police Training School, Jos, and now to the Lagos Police Command.
