Chika Ike is one actress in the Nollywood that has paid her dues . Despite her efforts to keep her first Marriage, it was abortive. For seven years, it is abuse of domestic violence.
She recounted her journey so far and how life has not been fair in her marital status.
Read what she said: “I got married in 2006 when I was just 21 years old. At that time, I thought I had found love. His name is Tony Eberiri. I was young, hopeful, and ready to build a happy home. But life had other plans.
The marriage lasted for seven years, and those years were not easy for me. Behind the beautiful pictures and smiles, I was sûffering in silence. I faced dôméstic viólence. Yes, I was béaten, brôken, and bru!sed—physically and emotionally. I even lost a prégnancy because of the abûses. I tried to stay strong, I prayed, I cr!ed, I begged, but nothing changed.
One day, I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself anymore. That was the day I said, ‘Enough is enough.’ I chose myself. I left that marriage, not because I didn’t want to be a wife, but because I didn’t want to be a v!ctim anymore.
Walking away was not easy. People jûdged me. Some blamed me. But I knew my peace, my life, and my happiness mattered more. Today, I’m stronger, wiser, and happier. I still believe in love, but I also believe love should not hurt. Never be afraid to walk away from what is killing your spirit.”
