Land grabbing scandal has rocked the Deeper Life Church at 32, Post Office Street, off Abiodun, Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos State with a business woman, Mrs. Mope Obasa, alleging that the church sent assassins to kill her over her piece of land in Mushin. According to Mrs. Obasa, the land in question was allocated to her mother, Mrs J Obasa by the Lagos State Government since 1980. Government as a token of appreciation for her mother’s services as a dedicated woman leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) .Mrs. Obasa, who claimed to have built a shop with goods worth over N50 million on the land, alleged that the Deeper Life Church, through some individuals, bribed some people to claim ownership of the land. “They met me on the land and claimed it was theirs,” she said, adding that despite her showing them the documents proving her ownership, they refused to listen.The situation took a violent turn when, according to Mrs. Obasa, the church allegedly sent assassins to kill her. “They sent people to kill me,” she claimed, “and I was lucky to have escaped with my life.”They hired ‘Saka No Person’ , a notorious land grabber and some police armed forces to kill me with his boys. Mrs. Obasa alleged that the church members had been threatening her, claiming that she would be killed if she didn’t vacate the land.The matter took a more devastating turn recently when Mrs. Obasa’s shop was demolished by the church members. “They came with thugs and bulldozers and demolished my shop, with goods worth over N50 million,” she lamented. The demolition resulted in injuries to several people including Mrs Obasa. She further claimed that the church members had no regard for human life. Investigations by some journalists who visited the scene revealed that hoodlums that have been stationed on the land . They were armed with weapon chasing everyone who visited the site . However, the issue was earlier reported to the Olosan Police station, Mushin. The DPO after questioned the injuries on Mrs Mope Obasa . She replied that Saka No Person, one of the notorious thugs hired by Deeperlife Church members macheted her and strangulated her only son at the scene. D P O ordered her release to receive treatment at the hospital. Mrs. Obasa and her family are calling on the church to produce the documents they claim prove their ownership of the land.The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for the church to be held accountable for their actions. “This is not the first time this church has been involved in land grabbing,” one angry resident said.As the situation continues to unfold, Mrs. Obasa remains steadfast, vowing to fight for her rights and protect her family’s land “I will not back down,” she said resolutely. “I will fight for what is rightfully mine, no matter the cost.”The case has raised questions about the role of religious institutions in land grabbing and the need for the authorities to take decisive action against those who use their positions to intimidate and exploit others. In the meantime, Mrs. Obasa and her family are left to pick up the pieces, having lost a valuable property and livelihood, and brutally wounded in the process.The case has been transferred to Ikeja Police command Ikeja . Thorough investigation is going on by the police . Mrs Mope Obasa is calling on Nigerians to rescue her from Deeperlife Church members. Drinks worth 50 million naira have been damages. She has been facing trauma mentally since the incident happened on Friday 23rd January 2026. It was gathered that she has spent almost have a million naira for hospital bills. Journalists who visited the church to chat with pastor and members of the Church were chased away .
