Agege Constituency 1 has been transformed under Honourable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa no doubt.
From Mulero, Oketoko, Morkaz , Epetedo and others the streets have wore new looks. These are parts of works of Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly .
Since 2015, which he has been in power in Lagos State, the attention will be shifted come 2027 general election.
Confirm News findings revealed that fresh political calculations are reshaping the trajectory of Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, as he is now reportedly set to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The move signals a clear shift from his earlier and more ambitious pursuits of the Lagos State governorship and the Lagos West Senatorial seat, both of which appear to have hit formidable political roadblocks within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to sources, Obasa, who had long been speculated to be eyeing the governorship seat to succeed incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reportedly saw his ambition stalled following high-level consultations within the party. Influential stakeholders, including the powerful Governance Advisory Council (GAC), are said to have aligned with President Bola Tinubu in backing Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the preferred candidate for the state’s top job.
Following that development, the Speaker was said to have redirected his political focus to the Lagos West Senatorial District, where he considered challenging incumbent Senator Idiat Adebule. His interest reportedly gained some traction within certain party circles, with discussions around positioning him as the APC’s senatorial flagbearer.
However, that path also met stiff resistance. The party’s national leadership, alongside its women’s wing, pushed back strongly, insisting on Adebule’s retention. Stakeholders argued that her position as the only female senator from the South-West made her candidacy crucial for gender balance and representation at the National Assembly. Amid the growing internal pressure, it was gathered that President Tinubu advised Obasa to scale down his ambition and instead pursue a seat in the House of Representatives. Specifically, he was directed to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency currently represented by Wale Ahmed.
Sources within the party disclosed that Obasa has since begun quiet but strategic mobilisation across Agege, reconnecting with grassroots structures and consolidating support for his new political objective. The development is particularly notable given that the Speaker had previously backed another aspirant, Mr Egunjobi, for the same seat before the latest realignment.Political observers say the unfolding scenario underscores the fluid and often unpredictable nature of Lagos APC politics, where party hierarchy, strategic zoning, and internal consensus continue to shape the ambitions of key players as the 2027 elections draw closer.
Nevertheless, Flfor Obasa, the recalibration may yet prove a pragmatic survival strategy in a political landscape where timing, alliances, and party loyalty remain decisive factors.
Obasa’s political objects is currently focused on House of Reps, Agege in general election 2027.
