Pathetic news hits Nollywood that Star Acor, Alex Ekubo, is dead. He was 40.
The actor’s death was confirmed on Tuesday by fellow Nollywood actor, Godwin Nnadiekwe, in an Instagram post.
A Nollywood source said Ekubo was rushed to the hospital on Monday from a battle with kidney cancer.
According to the source, the actor passed away on Tuesday afternoon after spending hours on life support.
The development comes months after concerns emerged over Ekubo’s health following his prolonged absence from social media.
It was learnt that his last social media post was made on December 30, 2024.
The news has since triggered widespread reactions across social media, with fans and colleagues mourning the actor’s passing.
Ekubo was widely known for his performances in several Nollywood blockbuster films and his strong influence in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
He was a brave script interpreter who is widely known for his professional roles in movies.
