The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 headquarters Onikan, Lagos, has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained effort to curb cultism, violent crimes and other criminal activities across Lagos and Ogun States with the arrest of three suspected cultists operating around Ikorodu and its environs as well as the recovery of a locally fabricated, double barrel cut to size pistol.

The operation was triggered by credible information provided by a patriotic member of the public concerning the activities of some suspected cultists terrorizing residents of Ikorodu and its environs.

Acting on the intelligence, detectives attached to the Zonal Quick Intervention Squad commenced surveillance on the suspects and subsequently launched a coordinated operation on 3rd September, 2026. The operation led to the arrest of one of the suspects, Michael Badejo at Ifo, Ogun state. His arrested thereafter facilitated the arrest of two other suspects at Ikorodu, Lagos State, alongside the recovery of a locally made pistol.

The suspects arrested are Michael Badejo a.k.a Senior (male, 33 years old), Fatai Oladipupo a.k.a Labalaba (male, 36years old), Kamarudeen Salau a.k.a Otunba (male, 46 years old). One (1) double barrel locally fabricated cut to size pistol was recovered from the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Michael Badejo, based in Ogun State, served as the link between Fatai Oladipupo and Kamarudeen Salau, a security man in Ikorodu. Investigators further established that Fatai, who had a firearm in his possession, contacted Michael for the purpose of repairing the weapon. Michael subsequently introduced him to Kamarudeen for the purported repair. Rather than repair the firearm, however, Kamarudeen offered to purchase it from Fatai.

During Interrogation, Fatai, a.k.a Labalaba claimed to have been given the pistol by his friend, currently at large. He also confessed to be a member of the Eiye confraternity cult group, alongside the other two arrested suspects.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network. The suspects in custody will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has commended the operatives for their diligence and the successful recovery of the firearm. He noted that removing illegal firearms from the hands of criminal elements remains critical to maintaining public safety. The AIG charged the operatives to sustain the momentum and intensify efforts to track down other members of the criminal network.

The Zone 2 Headquarters remains committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven in Lagos and Ogun States. Members of the public are therefore encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police stations or through official complaint channels.
