
The Online Reporters Association of Nigeria (ORAN) has extended its warm congratulations to Tunji Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement signed by ORAN’s President, Adegbola Shehu Tijani, the association acknowledged Disu’s policing expertise and noted that his appointment is well-deserved.He also hailed Disu’s appointment, describing it as a “typical example of a round peg in a round hole”.Mr Shehu Tijani, lauded President Tinubu for making the right choice, stressing that Disu will deliver on his mandate of restoring peace and sanitizing the Force. Describing the appointment as a bold move, with stakeholders optimistic about his tenure, Tunji Disu has over 35 years of service, with a proven track record in policing.Until his appointment, Disu served as Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police last year.Disu’s career trajectory is impressive, with stints as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and FCT. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and former head of the Intelligence Response Team.The associations recalled Disu’s contributions to policing, noting that he has proven his mettle in all positions he has held. They pledged their support to the new Acting IGP.ORAN also saluted the efforts of the immediate past IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, whose leadership was described as “desirable”. They thanked him for his contributions to the Nigeria Police Force.Acting IGP Tunji Disu has since assumed office, with stakeholders eagerly awaiting his next moves in restoring peace and order in the country.
