The Ibrahim Musa Gusau-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board is reportedly one resignation away from being dissolved.
According to OwnGoalNigeria, the development comes amid growing pressure on the federation’s leadership following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, marking the first time the Super Falcons have missed the tournament.
The setback follows the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, their second consecutive absence from the competition.
Despite the mounting pressure, Gusau has remained determined to contest the proposed NFF election scheduled for September 21 in Lafia.
However, that plan could be thrown into doubt after Arise TV reported that eight of the federation’s 13 board members have decided to resign.
Should a ninth member step down, the board would no longer have enough members to remain in place and could be dissolved.
A dissolution would allow the National Sports Commission (NSC) to establish an interim committee to oversee Nigerian football for three months while arrangements are made for fresh elections.
