Operatives of the Osun State Police Command have arrested Waliyu Adejare, popularly known as JJ or JayJay, an alleged ally of former Chairman of the Osun State Park Management System, Nurudeen Wakil Alowonle.Adejare was reportedly arrested in Osogbo on Thursday, September 24, 2026, over an alleged connection with the murder of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade.Emir was killed in Ile-Ife about two weeks ago amid a reported leadership tussle within the park management system.According to sources cited by InsightMedia, some residents of Oke Baale, Osogbo, alerted the police after allegedly sighting JayJay in the area.Operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit, led by CSP Lukman Afolabi, reportedly moved to the area. Upon sighting the officers, JayJay allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended and taken into custody.The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, reportedly said he would revert when contacted but had not done so as of the time of the report.The report further identified Adejare as a native of Oba Ile in Olorunda Local Government Area and alleged that he was a former naval personnel who deserted the Navy. It also claimed that he had previously been arrested by the police over alleged criminal activities and that he had an ongoing criminal case.
